Describes logistics of information which is an essential functional operation of any computing system.
Describes an event or object that can exist in both the real and virtual domains, as well as those that exist in neither domain, but in both at the same time.
Machinery capable of producing epistemologies.
Refers to the architecture of the entangled cognitive infrastructures involving algorithms and the software designs of AI models, automated data streams, and the core platforms and libraries for machine learning, as well as the hardware on which they operate, i.e. data centres, submarine cable networks, and GPU chip designs, etc.
As one approaches a mundane office desk with a computer, the screen flickers to life, and the cursor glides. The monitor displays a desktop with a folder named ‘Sense of Existence’. The cursor hovers over it, clicks, and the folder unfolds to reveal sub-folders, each narrowing down the particular ‘sense of existence’ one might seek. The motion continues… A pivotal existential question remains unanswered amidst the cascading labyrinth of sub-directories. Instead, the ontology of this domain, with its hierarchical categorisation and information architecture, propels us ever farther from resolution with each click. We discover that we’re in a loop, endlessly circling back to the origin regardless of chosen sub-categories.

A pivotal existential question – that which names the directory – remains unanswered amid the cascading labyrinth of sub-directories. Instead, the very ontology of this domain, with its hierarchical categorisation and information architecture, propels us ever farther from resolution with each click... until we discover that we’re in a loop, endlessly circling back to the origin regardless of chosen sub-categories.
This entire configuration addresses the notion of information in relation to knowledge and meaning, and the contrived essence of both language and technology through which we mediate. It uncovers how any organized, structured mediation inevitably falls short in conveying to the mind seeking ultimate explanations. A faculty that, in Immanuel Kant’s terms, constitutes pure reason (german, reine Vernunft) and its inherent contradictions with sensory input, unbound by the empirical or structural.
