As part of Manifesta 10, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art celebrated its 20th anniversary, reflecting on a quarter-century of socio-cultural and political transformation across Europe and beyond. The biennial took place in multiple venues across St. Petersburg, including the newly renovated General Staff Building of the State Hermitage Museum, dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Over four months, the event drew more than 1.5 million visitors, featuring exhibitions, performances, and educational programs across the city.
Egor Kraft’s I Print, Therefore I Am installation engaged with the materiality of print and the performativity of the artist’s gesture within the context of the museum’s historic collections. Situated in dialogue with the Hermitage’s architectural and curatorial legacy, the work interrogated the reproducibility of images and ideas, highlighting the tension between institutional authority, archival memory, and contemporary critical practice.
