Event type: Lectures and Workshop
Organizer: China Academy of Arts
Venue: China Academy of Arts, Hangzhou, CHN
Egor Kraft was invited by the China Academy of Arts to lead an intensive lecture series and workshop exploring the philosophical and artistic dimensions of emerging technologies.
Blending visually rich lecture-seminars with critical discussion, the course examined the intersection of intermedia art, philosophy of technology, and speculative design research in the context of the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution. Topics included AI as a system of automation and algorithmic cognition, peer-to-peer computational models, networked infrastructures, mixed realities, and Web3 frameworks.
The programme approached these technologies both technically and through socio-humanitarian inquiry, addressing derivative aesthetics, epistemic instability, and the challenges posed by synthetic forms of knowledge production. Participants engaged with AI, decentralized systems, and mixed reality as both conceptual and practical tools, developing speculative design proposals grounded in contemporary artistic research.
The workshop culminated in the presentation of speculative projects in the form of academic pictorials and artistic prototypes, encouraging participants to prioritize conceptual rigor and future-oriented inquiry over exhibition production, and to explore formats such as AIGC, narrative fiction, and immersive mixed-reality environments.
