Exhibited Works: Decentralised Embargo, PropaGAN, Proof of War Installation, Uncensorship Architecture Series, I Print, Therefore I Am
Duration: 29.04–11.06.2022
Event type: Solo Show
Organizer: alexanderlevy gallery
Venue: alexanderlevy gallery, Berlin, Germany
In Lies, Half-Truths & Propaganda [The Bad, the Worse, and the Worst] Russian-Austrian artist Egor Kraft opens up questions about these ideas, and the possibilities these new technologies are able to offer to counterweight and work against the realities of propaganda and misinformation during a time of war. The artworks presented all deal with the notion of censorship, archiving, preservation and how to create and consider solutions and alternatives to counterpoise fake news, manipulated images, and misinformation.
'Proof of War' Installation exhibition view
The sub-title of the project reads as Proof of War, which is a word play on the Proof of Work (PoW) which is a common algorithmic consensus principle across various blockchains and a form of cryptographic proof in which one party proves to others that a certain amount of a specific computational effort has been expended. Proof of Work and its less energy-hungry sibling Proof of Stake are code-based models of motivation, incentive, punishment, consensus and order through which the system and arguably value are meant to scale.
Hashd0x app (already deployed and tested) for capturing images, generating hash (unique identification code of the image), storing it on blockchain and sharing the image file on the network.
Server rack with Blockchain transactions
Decentralised Embargo, 2022
EnBW (client of Gazprom Germania) electricity contract, rack case, open frame server including four Nvidia 3090 GPUs, custom water loop, Ethereum blockchain mining software
PropaGAN, 2022
Small format custom build server, steel open frame chassis and frame, machine learning algorithms, custom dataset, stereo sound. Available as a hardware sculpture or a single channel video on a square screen (model: Eizo flexScan EV2730Q, seen in the exhibition)
Uncensorship Architecture Series, 2022
Electronic Ink screens, Plexiglass, Swarm Blockchain and Swarm Nodes, Fragments of films of investigative journalists. Could be discounted incase of dyptich, tryptich, etc

Initiated in 2017, ongoing.
Marble, polyamide, machine learning algorithms, custom software, original dataset, multichannel video installation.
A critical and technical exploration of the capacities of AI models to reconstruct missing fragments of objects from classical antiquity and generate synthetic historical documents carved in stone. This work questions the epistemological qualities of AI-accelerated historiography, akin to 'reverse archaeology'.

Initiated in 2011, ongoing.
5-channel video installation; HD film; website: thenewcolor.net; book, edition of 50.
An online mystification concerning a parascientific breakthrough discovery of a never-before-seen colour. The digital myth took the form of a fictitious company's website, video adverts & mockumentary interviews to become a viral sensation attracting mass attention online.
