Exhibited Works: CAS_13.2 Augmented Hercules, CAS Film
Duration: 20.04–07.05.2019
Event type: Prize Show
Organizer: Sergey Kuryokhin Modern Art Center
Venue: Sergey Kuryokhin Modern Art Center, St. Petersburg, Russia
The Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award exhibition presents the work of emerging and established artists, highlighting experimental practices in media and contemporary art. The 2019 edition featured several CYLAND MediaArtLab artists and projects, including Egor Kraft’s CAS_13.2 Augmented Hercules and related film works. Recognised for its commitment to provocation, performance, improvisation, and unpredictability—principles inspired by the legacy of Sergey Kuryokhin—the award seeks to support promising artists, curators, and musicians while integrating contemporary Russian art into the international cultural scene. This year, CYFEST was honoured as the Best Festival in the Field of Contemporary Art during the award ceremony held at the Tovstonogov Big Drama Theatre. The exhibition emphasises the synthesis of artistic forms, the search for new meanings, and the revolutionary courage necessary to challenge conventions and expand the boundaries of contemporary art.
