Exhibited Work: The New Color (Film)
Duration: 6–24 May 2016
Event type: Group Screening
Organizer: The Institute for New Feeling
Venue: Werkartz, Los Angeles, USA
FELT BOOK was a traveling exhibition and publication project organized by The Institute for New Feeling, a three-person artist collective exploring contemporary modes of perception and affect through treatments, therapies, and speculative wellness practices. Borrowing the structure of Fluxus scores, YouTube tutorials, and eHow articles, FELT BOOK included text, video, sculpture, and interactive works by over 100 international artists—each proposing an instruction for “new feeling.”
The project began with an exhibition at SPACES (Cleveland, OH) in 2015 and toured multiple venues across North America, including Recess (New York), Vox Populi (Philadelphia), Sediment Arts (Richmond), and The Luminary (St. Louis), among others. Egor Kraft’s The New Color (2016) was presented as part of the Los Angeles iteration at Werkartz, contributing to the exhibition’s exploration of mediated emotion, perception, and the cultural construction of affect in the digital age.
