Exhibited Works: Content Aware Studies series
Duration: 2 February – 12 February 2018
Event type: Group show
Organizer: State Academy of Art and Design
Venue: Stiglitz State Academy of Art and Design, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The 11th edition of CYFEST, one of the leading international festivals of contemporary media and digital art, brought together artists, technologists, and theorists to explore the intersections of art, technology, and society. In 2018, the festival spanned multiple cities, including Saint Petersburg, Venice, Caserta, and London, showcasing the global reach of experimental media practices.
CYFEST 11 in Saint Petersburg partnered with a range of classical and experimental cultural institutions, including the Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, the Youth Educational Center at the State Hermitage, Saint Petersburg Sound Museum, Art Center Pushkinskaya-10, Annenkirche (St. Anna’s Lutheran Church), and Sreda Space. The festival’s main project, Weather Forecast: Digital Cloudiness, examined the relationship between digital technologies, environmental systems, and human perception, reflecting on how computational methods and algorithmic processes influence our understanding of natural and social phenomena.
The Content Aware Studies series was presented as part of the festival’s program, exploring AI-based reconstruction, generative processes, and the interaction between historical artifacts and contemporary digital methods. By combining technological experimentation with critical artistic inquiry, the exhibition invited audiences to consider the possibilities and limitations of machine intelligence in mediating and interpreting cultural heritage.
